Message: okay, this is what I don't understand...the sub i'm gonna get says: RMS/Program Power Handling: 350/700 Watts
the amp says: 140 watts RMS x 2 at 2-Ohms
does that mean the amp isn't powerful enough for the sub?

Message: 700watts is the max. power that you can safely push without running the risk of blowing it. But when you push the max the subs have a tendency to destort at a higher volume. I would go with an amp that has a power rating closer to your rms. Your amp is a 140watt 2-channel wich means there is 70watts per channel.I would go with at least a 2-channel 700watt amp.

Message: Or look at it this way. You will never blow those speakers with that amp. Which could be a good thing.
