okay, this is what I don't understand...the sub i'm gonna get says: RMS/Program Power Handling: 350/700 Watts

the amp says: 140 watts RMS x 2 at 2-Ohms

does that mean the amp isn't powerful enough for the sub?

700watts is the max. power that you can safely push without running the risk of blowing it. But when you push the max the subs have a tendency to destort at a higher volume. I would go with an amp that has a power rating closer to your rms. Your amp is a 140watt 2-channel wich means there is 70watts per channel.I would go with at least a 2-channel 700watt amp.

Or look at it this way. You will never blow those speakers with that amp. Which could be a good thing.
