 Subject: Backflush T installation

Which hose do you cut to intall a back-flush 'T', The upper or the lower? Another way of asking would be which way is the flow in the heater hoses...'in' the lower and 'out' the upper or vice-versa?
I have a 2001 4.7L CC AWD.

The one going into the t-stat housing is the return from the heater core so you want to plumb the "tee" into that one. The lower one.
