Subject: Road paint removal?
IP: Logged

Message:
They painted yellow center lines down our road the other day and I just noticed that we now have yellow paint spatters on the rear quarter of our Intrepid. I tried scaping it with my fingernail thinking that it couldn't have bonded to the clearcoat too well. Well, it bonded good enuff cuz it wouldn't scrape off!

Anyone have any tips for removing it safely? I thought about hitting it with some paint thinner, but didn't know if it would harm the clear coat or not.

Thanks!

I've used bug/tar remover as well. For severe 'already' baked on paint... best bet is to use rubbing compound, and gently keep rubbing until all the yellow paint comes off.

an oribital buffer comes in handy too.

Thanks for the advice guys. I tried the bug & tar remover to no avail. I'll give the body shop a holler in the morning and see what they say.

Lacquer thinner will remove it. Be careful not to over apply. Use soft cloth and rub gently.
