no increase because the dak was designed in a wind tunnel and keep air flow from putting drag on the rear

Went from averaging high 11s to high 12s. I think it was good for about 1mpg. The difference might be greater at more moderate speeds. Unfortunately I can't seem to keep her under 80 very often so it's hard for me to say.

mine went from 18 to 20 mpg hiway immediatly after putting the soft cover on. I was getting 18 on a 300 mile turnaround trip, did the trip one weekend, put the cover on durring the week, did the trip again the following and the milage jumped by 2.1 mpg, and the gas gage was about 1/8 higher when the trip was over. I always topped off the tank before making the trip so I would not have to stop for gas. The last time I made the trip I had the cover rolled up and guess what? the milage I went down by almost 2.1 MPG. That is real world experience not some clown just guessing as the others seem to be. The first two guys do not list a cover on their "mod list" nor does the 4th guy And none have a comparison trip listed.
Nitro junkie are you saying that dragging a 18 by 54 inch verticle pc. of metal through the air does not adversly affect milage? Are you saying that redirecting the air that would strike that pc. of metal and the resultant drag would not positively affect milage? Your statement is one that I have to disagree with. All I know is that at hiway speeds the last ribbed section on my soft top is severly depreseed by a lot of air pushing it down. If the top were not on the bed, ALL that air would be instead, pressing on the tailgate, reducing milage and creating drag which further reduces milage.

If the Dakota was designed in a wind tunnel, it must have been during the take your kid to work day. The Dakota is a slightly rounded brick

If it were true, then you could drop your tailgate and accomplish the same thing. I know there is no difference in gas mileage on mine driving on the interstate at 80mph with the tailgate up or down. Of course, I have the GAS GUZZELING 360. Nothing makes much difference on it. A 4.7L might see a difference.

I saw about 2 mpg on the hiway after I put my Peragon cover on my '02 QC AWD 4.7L Auto. I usually get about 20-21 on the interstate at a steady 65 when the weather's decent. The mileage seems to drop a mpg or so when the temperature drops below about 40 F.

Put a cover on mine last summer and was averaging 14 mpg. This winter I'm up to 15.3. Whether's it's because of the cover, I don't know. Did no other mods to it since the cover was put on.
