Subject: So no R/T for '05? IP: Logged
Message: That is not cool. Why the hell can't they just put the hemi in the R/T and make the R/T for '05? I was going to trade my truck in at the end of the year because I thought that they were coming out with an '05 R/T model, but I guess I can't now. I don't feel like waiting another 2 years for a new R/T or SRT-8. Oh well, I'll probably end up getting an SUV instead.

Message: If you look at Chrysler's history, you will see that when they introduce a new modelor body style, there is always a one or two year delay between the intoduction and more horsepower. Some examples: 1984 Caravan 4-cyl/ 1986 6-cyl; 1987 Dakota 6-cyl/ 1991 (non-Shelby)8-cyl; 1997 Dakota 5.2/ 1998 5.9 R/T; P/T Cruiser/ Turbo later; new Ram/ Hemi later, etc. etc. Same song, different verse. It's like D-C wants to sell you the new underpowered vehicle, and get you to trade it in when the "correct" engine comes along. Teasing to the max!

Message: Obviously I knew that. You just didn't get what I was conveying. They are changing the Dakota in '05 and I figured since they are changing it they would bring back the R/T for '05. That's what I was saying.

Message: I guess "No Road/Turd for 05" will become the next topic de jour along with "can I put a V8 TB on my V?". This has to be the 20th thread on this.

Message: Anybody seen this article?
'05 Dakota
It mentions a high output version of the 4.7 which will make 250 hp.
It also mentions a 6 speed tranny for the v6??
Is this all true???
Stalker
"The volume engine is a 230-horsepower, 4.7-liter V8 making 290 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm. A new high-output version of the 4.7-liter V8 develops more than 250 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of twist. The V6 comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, while the V8s route power through a five-speed automatic."
