Sobriety would be a good first step for most of them.

Message: The truck is one of the ugliest vehicles I have ever seen. I have been looking forward to the redesign for the last couple of years and now I am highly dissapointed. The current dakotas look 1000x better. I like the new rams and the new durangos have grown on me, but this redesign is devastating. I'll never get use to this one.

I like this truck. Less feminine styling than the GenIII. And so far beyond the GenI&II the only thing they have in common is the name.
I'd buy this truck over an ass ugly Canyawn. I test drove a Craporado and it's got just about the cheapest plasticy GM sh1t interior I've ever seen and the 4.2Whoretec is the most underpowered POS on the planet. My 3.9 beats it hands down.
I'll be buying a brand new 05 when they come out and let you all know how it goes.

Message: People adapt to change in different ways. Some take the path of least resistance. Others move on to different territory. Hopefully both find happiness.
The former Chrysler Corporation understood that the path to growth was retaining current customers and attracting new ones, both at the same time. The comments on this board do not reassure me that this new Dakota will do both.
The cast is set for many changes throughout the whole product lineup. The trucks are probably the "luckiest" product line when it comes to force fed change. Try dropping sedans, introducing only a "Sport Tourer" (read wagon) and eliminating FWD. That is not an attempt to retain current customers by any stretch. This Dakota suffers mostly from a bad case of the boxies.
It's a miracle this truck is even here, because 18 months ago there were strong hints coming from Auburn Hills (read Stutgart) that the Dakota platform would be dropped entirely in favor of a smaller pickup. How would that have been accepted? That's really what could have happened and that's why our old friend Bob fast-tracked the Colorado over at his new hangout.

Message: JeebusChristo Is right on, Anyone who says this truck looks like anything but a Dodge is fullash*t, Dodge is copied left and right by EVERY Other Fukn Truck maker Period, It looks like a smaller Ram with a similar Front to the Druango, The wheels kinda suck, but this truck has potential. The bad part is obviously options, No Reg cab? NO HEMI? sheet!, These Daks must not be as popular as they used to be. the Rams are #1 sellers now. In 2 Year Everyone will love these things and all the cry babys will be wired shut. Personally I cant blame anyone for having loyalty for Dodge I have owned and worked for everyone of the Big 3, Ford is worthless Trash, and GM is sloppy. Toyo is reliable under normal driving conditions, and Nissan is the Japanese Ford.

Message: The New 2005 Dakota will not make me run out and trade my 2000 QC any time soon...but the design is not terrible and will more than likely grow on me more and more like the Jeep Liberty has...I think the design has some tweaking left in it...and when they drop a Hemi in the new Dak, it will look even better...

Message: What happened to the M-80 idea? If they are going to box it up, do it right. It looks like the Dakota and Caravan had a drunkin' one night stand and 9 months later the 2005 Dakota came about. It's going to need some tweeks from the aftermarket department.

Message: Man, I would like to see it in real time, these pictures they show don't impress me, and please tell me they are going to have color keyed options for the grill and that bumper, chrome looked good in the 80s but now it just looks trashy.
I would like to see a performance 2wd or a real 4x4 evolve from what they have started here, I can't bash it but it needs work.
Gen 3 Daks look feminine? What dakota do you drive? Do you have a car with balls?

Message: I really like the new redesigned 2005 Dodge Dakotas. The only thing i didnt like about the new durangos was the headlights and they have changed for the better with this dakota. The Chrome crap has gotta go and its all gotta be one color. The only 2 questions I have is Why the hell does it not have a Hemi? and When the hell is it getting a Hemi!? Toyotas new tacoma is getting a supercharged 6 with 300 HP, a hemi will blow it out of the water. 345 in that dakota will kill just about ever other truck (minus the SRT-10) I went to an auto show a few weeks back and the only thing that really impressed me (other then the dodges) was that new Nissan truck, Titan. It really seemed like it would give other full size pick ups a run for the money but since its still new they dont have very many options to make it affordable. Surprise, Surprise, everything from found on road dead and Garbage Machine did nothing to impress me. When the 05 gets a Hemi would someone let me know because I'll be first in line.

Message: I like it. I'm not going to run out and trade my R/T on it but... It's OK. Haven't seen the CC version, but the QC looks pretty much the same as current (cab wise) Doubt that a Hemi will show up as that will eat into Ram sales. The chrome has got to go. Notice the 5 bolt wheels?

Message: They might actually sell the HEMI as the R/T or SRT8...whatever they want to call it. The 5 lug wheel pattern is a huge improvement which instantly allowed us thousands more wheel choices. The look is still pretty good, and I'm sure it will grow on me in time.

Message: The new design has potential, and they have made consumer demanded improvements like 5-lug wheels and true headrests, but they've taken one more step in keeping people from screwing with the sound system. Take note of the dashboard picture on the dodge website. The center trim panel has semi-circle cutouts for the radio knobs. Good luck mounting a custom stereo in that without either lots of cutting and fabbing, or buying an entire replacement adapater panel that will be plenty expensive. Also, what is with the two-tone dash and door panels? Now we're taking styling cues from that girly new F-150? I'll stick with my '03 QC 4.7L sport+ for now. The only improvement it needs is a hotter ECM (then I can put 4.7HO stickers on it, cuz I'm sure that's all Dodge did for the power increase).
