Message: Hello, two weeks ago my 93 dakota 3.9 started loosing power from the take off.Brake torque just bogs the engine down.No backfires and runs smooth.something seems to be effecting the vacuum.took it to the garage and they started by replacing the timing chain because the timing was varying so much.No change.when it's put on a computor they say it does'nt complete a loop that it's suppose to.catalytic converter has been removed and exhaust checked.no problem there.injectors clean and plugs are new.for some reason it's not advancing the timing like it should. My mechanic gave up after 12 hrs.The only thing that seems to be a clue is that 3 weeks ago my battery boiled over when a/c was running.I replaced the battery and did'nt need the a/c at all untill yesterday.after it ran for 2-3 minutes I was driving and it backfired thru the exhaust.I know this is pretty vague but does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Message: seems to sound like timming with the backfiring.
also could be a valve hanging up or burnt valve?check the timming again then take off the valve covers to see if anything looks broken
