Hey guys I have this very annoying problem when it's cold, which in Ottawa in Winter, that's everyday. When i first start in the morning I get this chirping sound, I have ruled out the belt and the brakes. It only happens while the truck is moving and the sound corresponds with the speed of the truck. When stopped, no sound. I thought i found the problem, that being the rear u-joint because it was damaged, however replaced it and same problem. It sounds like its not coming from the engine area but under the cab near the front, I'm puzzled and it's driving me nuts. Also when truck has been running for a while, travelling not just idelling, it goes away. Any help would probably save my marriage!!!

I have possibly a similar problem. I to do not know where it comes from. Could you give us more info on your truck its kind of hard to tell you what might be going on without that. (more people would probably respond)

Could be a few things. A little more info could help, but I'll try and help out a fellow 'Nuck anyways. Since its a 4X4 it could be the front drive shaft U-joints as well. If your rear one was damaged your other ones could be as well, and since we don't have locking hubs on Dakota's those U-joints are turning all the time as well. Also could be a wheel bearing which are notorious for wearing out as well. Chirping could always mean a bearing of some sort it's just a matter of locating it. Let us know more if you can.
