Ok-310 hp, 590 lbs of torque-to dodges 305 hp and 555 lbs of torque. 5 less hp, 35 less lbs of torque. Inline 6 vs big block v8? hah! I had a 2001 extended cab long bed dually 3500, that I got 24 mpg with. I had a boss that had an extended cab long bed single wheelbase 2500, that was scared to race me, and despite the less weight, got worse gas mileage. I beat every powerstoke and cummins that would ever try to race, and got better gas mileage than most of them. I've got a couple buddy's who do construction, and they've driven (towed heavy with) brand new powerstrokes, cummins, and duramax, and by far, the duramax pulled the most the easiest. There is no competition. Oh, and the duramax is definitely the quietest. I can here those stupid cummins from a mile away! :chevy:

Just got rid of a Duramax for the F-250 Powerstroke. There's no comparison, the Ford felt like a sports car compared to that Duramax with the weak front end. Nice try troll.

Not to be a stickler, but the Cummins wont get 325/600 until MY04.5
If you'd like some pro-Cummins propaganda:
Cummins has 50% less engine related complains than the duramax and 33% less than Ford (from JD Power Warranty study)
The average lifespan of a Cummins engine was twice the 7.3 powerstroke and expected to be more than that for both the 6.0 Powerstroke and the Duramax.
Cummins makes it's power at 400 rpm less than the other two, extending powertrain life.
And finally, the only reason the Cummins isn't rated at higher power densities is because the Dodge transmissions haven't been strong enough to take it.

doesn't matter the company that makes it. btw, the numbers for the duramax are for the 04' version released this month. oh yeah, and available in auto or manual which is good since almost nobody buys manual's. as for the I6 usage, it's for the longer stroke, longer rod capability, fewer cylinders for fuel milage, and to keep vibration down which is a problem with cylinders that large. dodge boys have been using that inline 6 answer that it's a real diesel because of that for years, run your H.O. cummins (less than 10% of the produced cummins optioned trucks) against a powerstroke 6.0 and you'll find it get's it's ass kicked with and without a trailer. oh yeah, it's also available with auto and manual
