Here is a tidbit from the Ford Expedition Complaint section.

"The economic stress of paying $645.00 per month for truck payment plus $172.00 per month for insurance plus $500 a month on gas not knowing if I am even going to make it to work or home. I live approx. 50 miles from my workplace. The stress of driving a truck everyday that may just blow up or have its wheels fall off. The check engine light is constantly going on. One time the emergency brake light was on and I didn't even have the emergency brake on. That's when they found the coolant leaked all over the sparkplugs, etc."

Did this guy ever stop and think that if it is so much of a financial burden to own this truck, maybe he should sell it? Does owning a big dumpy gas guzzling SUV really make him feel better when compaired to the neighbor? Buy a $500 honda and throw it away when it breaks, and buy another.

If he could sell the Expedition easily he probably would have. BUt if hes payin 645 per month on it that probly means he's so ridiculously upside down that if he tries to get out of it now he'd be dragging several thousand dollars in negative equity from car to car for the next decade or two.

Maybe if he was stupid enough to buy an expedition at $645/month he deserves to be stuck with it and its gas guzzling problems. You shouldnt buy vehicles you dont need and cant afford!

It didn't say anywhere in that article that he couldn't afford it. I don't think anyone deserves to be making payments on a vehicle that gives them constant problems. For that matter, I don't think anyone deserves to be stuck with a vehicle that constantly has problems, whether they are making payments or not! This "let the buyer beware" attitude that I see constantly here is exactly the reason DODGE is getting away with allowing the ball joint issue to go on for year after year!

After owning a Dakota, I certainly have a lot more sympathy for anyone stuck with a problematic vehicle.

Just my supposition. If you're stuck paying over 600 per month for a vehicle, I can only see one reason why. You couldn't make a big enough downpayment and/or came into it already upside down.

With the interest rates as low as they have been, a lot of people feel it is smarter to put down as little as possible. Why save 2.9% on $10k when you can earn a modest 5% on that money?

I'm just saying that there should be a little more sympathy for someone who gets ripped off. Any one of us could be stuck trying to deal with a lemon. Why should a manufacturer build a quality product if they see they can cut corners, screw the customer, make a bigger profit, and get away with it?
