Subject: 04 Noise in cab IP: Logged
Message: I have a new 04 club cab with a strange problem. Some smart engineer decided the heater/A/c system would work better if there was 2 vents in the back of the cab to allow airflow. The only problem is that while allowing nice airflow, it also lets in all kind of road noise, exhaust sounds, etc. It sounds the same as riding with 1 of the rear side windows open. My 99 club cab did not have these vents and was 100% quieter.I tried to remove the rear seatback to tape over or cover these vents, but I cannot get the back cushion to release. Anybody know how to remove the seatback, please let me know. Thanks

Message: There are four bolts which must be removed to take the backs off of the seats. They are located one on each side of the seat and they go through the hinge assembly then into the seat back. The ones towards the outside of the vehicle are under a plastic cover. If I remember right, the bolts are a T45. After these are removed, then lift up on the seat back and it should slide right out of it's brackets. Hope this helps!
