Glad I could be some help. Let me know how it works for you. I want to confirm that my truck isnt the only one doing this. Like I said before, all I ever got from people was that its not suposed to do that. The first time I tried it was on the highway(drag strip rained out that night) at about 2 am. I ran it through the gears, let it shift into third and lock up, and then pressed the brakes lightly. The tach jumped up about 500 rpm and felt it pick up more speed. Tried it at the the track the following week and ran a tenth and a half quicker than my best, and about 2 mph faster. The one cool thing about using the brake lights at the track is when you win the race. There are a few people wndering if my truck is faster than it is, and that I`m toying with them.
I tried hooking up a switch to the brake lights but I think I did it wrong. I just ended up blowing fuses.

Brian,
It's really going to screw with people's heads when they see me pulling away and my brake lights are on. If it works, I may trigger it at 3/4 throttle. I've got to find a suitable switch to tie into the throttle linkage. I may try to make a bracket to hook another cable to the throttle linkage and run a cable over to the fire wall and mount the switch on the fire wall.

We shouldn't have to do this crap to our trucks to make them run right. I'm a die hard Dodge man, but this is bullsh!t!! I hope the new 2005 Dakota isn't this FvCKED UP!

I hear you on that one.
I was disapointed when I found out that you cant even get that plug in device from b&m for the dodge trans. On the chevys and the fords you just plug them in to the tcm and you can firm up the shift and change the the shift pattern. I guess I should have looked into that before I bought my truck, but I didnt think the trany would be a problem. I have been thinking about a mopar converter but since the lock up is controled by the pcm, I dont know if that will help. Im selling it anyways, so I dont think I`l be spending any more money on it, but I still want to know if that trick works on your truck. Even try it on a back road some where at let me know if it feels any better in high gear

That's why my truck has never had a wrench on it. It pisses me off too much to spend $1,000.00 in perfromance upgrades to make this thing 1sec faster when all I need is a damn PCM flash that will totaly alter the shifts of the 46re and change the timing and air:fuel ratio of the engine. It would be so easy to make this truck run mid 14's without sacrificing driveability or gas mileage, but NONE of these genious aftermarket suppliers has come up with a program flash for the Dodge PCM that actually does anything significant. They are rip-offs. So, I have to swap cams, intakes, TB's, exhaust, etc. to make up the difference. Then my 13mpg is going to drop to 9mpg just so I can run 1sec faster in the 1/4mile. Worse of all, none of those mods are going to fix the 3rd gear downshift/lock-up malfunction. It will just be faster in the quarter mile. It will probably drive worse in traffic because I will loose torque at the lower RPM's. When the transmission decides to "lock-up" in 3rd at 45mph and I nail the throttle, it is just going to lay down. Like I said earlier. I probably will die waiting on a Hemi Dakota.
