Im sorry you have had such bad luck with your race engines. But we have pushed the small blocks way past the 500 hp mark (even the 400)with out any problems. Maybe racing late modle puts a different kind of strain on it. I dont know, I drag race.

Good enough for me man. I do agree that what they get out of those cars is stunning to say the least. Im just not a fan of ss. Maybe if there were more chevys:)
I would like to know what B1 set up you running. I Though they only did big blocks.

The 98 to 02 z28 was an under rated engine. The camaro/firebird line was on the chopping block at the time and they did push a bit more than they were rated at in the hope to sell more cars. A stock 98 ls1 camaro with a slick at sea level ran a 13.1 (cant remember the mph). And on the same dyno that they got the 285 hp on, they tested the higher rated 345hp 97 corvette and only pulled 282 at the wheels.

For comparison purposes lets throw the SRT-4 into the mix. Here is a front wheel drive car for under 20K that will run 13.8sec give or take .1sec. There's only abot 350-400lbs difference between the SRT-4 and the 6spd Z28. The SRT-4 advertises 230hp the Z28 advertises 320hp? But your telling me it actually makes 345hp at the wheels? Dude, I'd be ashamed of the fact that a front wheel drive 4-banger could keep up with me. You act like your proud of this fact. Lets see.... 345hp-230hp = 115hp difference. So, the Z28 w/ram-air has 115hp more than an SRT-4 and weighs only 400lbs more. Something doesn't add up there. The Z should be running at least a full second faster than the SRT-4. Have you ever tried to get a 230hp front wheel drive car to hook up? It's nearly impossible. The fact that a factory FWD car can even come close to the 13sec mark is mirraculous and they did it for under $20K. The last time I saw one on a lot, the Z28 was over $30K. The Z must not be too reliable. They've only been out of production for 2 years and already there like ghost. You used to see one everywhere you go. Now you might see one once a week. By this time next year you'll be lucky to spot one once a month. Have you ever seen a car fall apart so fast? There are 1996 Supras out there still running 13.8's with over 150,000 miles on them and the interiors are still like they were when they drove them off the lot. Z28 sucks! As much as I think the Lightning is overpriced, I would plop down 35K for a Lightning way before I would a Z28. Most of the Lightnings sold are still running.

whiplash,i've never seen a srt-4 run a 13.8,i've seen a 14.0,so close enough,but the z-28 runs well lower than a 13.8 more like a 13.0or 13.1,i've seen it my friends have them.yes,they still run good i might add.just cause you don't see them much that means they fell apart?thats retarded. b1 you seem like alright guy,you actually know what tour talkin'about i hope we can just all agree to disagree.chevy makes good vehicles so does dodge,the sb.chevy isn't perfect but the hemi ain't the end all be all of engine designs

Did you even read my post??? The camaro DOSE run a full second quicker than the srt4. And where did I say the camaro made 345 wheels or was rated 320? The thing is rated at 305hp and it made 295 at the rear wheels. I think you need glasses or somthing.

I do think the srt4 is an impersive car for what it is. I even considered trading my dakota in on one. But after talking about it, my friends reminded me that its still a neon. And I dont know about where you live but there are lots of camaros on the road here.

It seems that Chevy is the only one who can make a fast truck, that will still tow great, be used year round, and throw in luxury.All this talk about the hemi not being designed to be fast is crap. Every commercial about the hemi when it came out was what-A FRIGGIN RACE FROM A STOPLIGHT! You're a moran. They brought back the hemi engine to try to have the most powerfull, fastest pickup that is still a truck. They couldn't do it. They do not have the technology to make a truck that can do that. Sure, the srt-10 is fast-but it doesn't tow much and you can't drive it year round (atleast not where I live). What if I want power, speed, but need the truck to be able to be a half ton truck? The SS anwers the call. Funny you should mention gas mileage. All i've seen is 12mpg with most hemi's. The srt-10 is like what-9mpg? Geez. Check your facts pal. So, you have a dokota? This is a debate over GM and Mopar and you bring up this dauer thing. I looked up this dauer thing and its not even a production car. I have never seen one on the street have you? Do you own one? What does it do in the 1/4 mile? Going by the 0-60 times, Im sure an S/S 68 hemi cuda could take it. But who realy cares becouse we will never see that thing on the street or a drag strip. Its a prototype, and alot of outlaw street cars would eat it for lunch. It probably cost a million bucks too.
Now again dont rank me with the fast and furious bunch. I dont drive an import with a coffee can for an exhaust tip, and a stereo that out powers my engine. I dont race 4 wide in down town trafic. My starter makes more foot pounds than those rice burners.
Go to your porsche forums and drool over a car you will never have. The only lemans I respect was made by pontiac. You piece of monkey crap.
