How the heck do you clean them and keep them clean?

I can keep up real good with getting everything clean but the windows (rear and slider)

What is a good product for dirt/smudge free factory tinted windows?

Thanks.

If your cleaning the inside, i use a mixture of alcohol (rubbing) and water. I use rain-x on the outside.

I use ClearVue its made for tinted windows. If you use anything with amonia on tinted windows they will start to turn purple after a while.

I've tried windex, soap and water, just water, apllied/dried with either paper towels, terry cloth, chamois, etc, on the outside, and just can't get a smudge free apperence...spots and streaks are always present...I do most of this with high sun, suppose I could try at dusk as perhaps the key is getting the windows dried asap.

BTW, the factory tint is applied to the outside of the windows, right?

And yes, I heard amonia wasn't good, thanks for the suggestions!

rear doors are.....

If you want the outside windows really clean use a brillo pad it works great!! Dont use it on the mirrors it will scratch them.

I use Armor All window cleaner, it is safe for tint. Also, try using a newspaper to clean, someone showed me that at work and it works great.

the factory tint is actually in the glass and not a film. I wish I could get my regular windows that way and I could tell the cops it was "factory" =]

As far as cleaner turning the tint purple, I think you are mistaken. The reason tint turns purple is due to the fact that it is dyed/cheap tint and fades over time.

Kraw amonia turns tint purple. The guy at the
tint place said they use an amonia based
product to strip the tint off the windows. Thats
what I was told.

darkapple and kraw are right, the tint is IN the window. You can't hurt the "tint",
cause there is no film on it.

Water spots normally disappear after a bit of buffing with a cloth. Make sure to do
the inside AND outside of glass, the spots may be on the other side and thus you
can't get to them

Actually the tint turns purple because its is a lower grade film. This is not as much of a problem as most tints are improved from the purple fade days.

The thing with amonia is it breaks down the inner protective layer on the film.

You can use any glass cleaner amonia or otherwise to remove tint if you know what you are doing.

be carefull using brillo pads on your glass over time you will notice that it will become easier to get the spots and harder to remove them. You will make ultra fine scratches that will allow the minerals in the water to bond to the glass. You are best off using a cleaner wax of an ultra fine polish to try to remove the spots and then your glass should be easy to keep clean.

Good luck.

Try Durashine on the outside of the windows. It makes the water "sheet" off so that there are no waterspots like when you use rain-x or wax.

My rear window appears to have been tinted on the outside. There is definitely a scratch in the tinting where it is clear that my boys put there.
