When your truck starts bouncing or you decide you want an upgrade. You'll know it when they're shot.

I replaced mine at 10,000 miles with a set of Rancho RS5000's. Great improvement. I would say yours are past due.

If you notice the back end kicking out on you when cornering on uneven pavement,
you get noticable body lean when cornering at speed (as when scooting along offramps) to the point you feel spooked,
or you feel as if your always bobbing and bouncing around in you seat(is your head always bobbing around).
If any of these are answered with a YES ,then it is time.
Spring for premium shocks and you won't regret it.
I replaced mine at 30,000 km (20,000 mi.) and noticed a nice improvement in ride and handling.

Thanks for the info. I do understand about the bouncing etc etc. But mine doesnt bounce at all, they are STIFF as a board. Locked up or totally shot and fried. I got new ones on order should be in today. Either way I am replacing them

How hard is it to replace the shocks on your own? They look easy enough to get to!

I find the ride very bumpy/jarring I see people are replcing them with the Rancho units. What sort of ride are these providing? I do about 90% rd and 10% fire rds/off rd/beach driving.

Thanks
J~

I replaced my oem with rancho 9000's.
I prefer a very stiff ride so I keep them up at the max most of the time.
This provides better cornering, drasticly reduced body roll.
on washboards or slick roads I soften them to a medium setting (equal to rancho 5000's) and for just long straight freeway drive I drop them all the way to soft. (feels like a Cadi)

I started with adjustables up front and 5000's in rear, recently changed out the rear for adjustables.

I love my Ranchos and recomend them when ever I can.

Was it hard to replace the shocks all the way around? Any special tools or things I might need to know or have?
I am pretty good a doing things, I ride a 650 enduro bike that I can tinker with pretty good. Never really done anything heavy duty like this on a truck!

How expensive are the 9000's?

Thanks
J~

It's a pretty simple job. Basic hand tools is all that's required. It will probably take you less than 1 hour for all four shocks.

The RS9000's are kind of pricey, at about $85 each (Summit Racing). The RS500's are a little less than 1/2 that. Do a little shopping and you may find a better price; but not by much.
