Subject: Front Hitch Reciever For Dakota

I've been looking for a front hitch reciever for my 97 kota SLT 2wd. However, the one's that I've seen are only for a 4wd. What is the difference in the two that enables the recievers to only be compatible for 4wds?

That is a great question to bring up, I am also looking for a front receviver for my 03 Dakota (4x4). I have the package for the fog lights, so I have the plastic ferring on the bottom of the bumper. The reason I want the front reciever is for a winch. The questions I have are: 1. Will a front reciever adequetly support a winch? and 2. what recievers are there out there that are any good. I would really like a reciever that would be right behind the ferring, then I would cut out a square and make a cover to stick back in the plastic when not in use. If anybody has any input I would appreciate it.

If you search past threads youll come up with this topic several times...a few with pictures i think. I believe drawtite and hidden hitch make front hitches for the dak, but they stick down and cut ground clearance some. Would be fine for a winch if properly installed.
