I have a 98 V6 3.9 and im looking to put duals
on. the people at flowmaster first said use a
50 delta series or a 50 SUV series then they said all of the flowmaster muffler would sound like an import honda on my V6...so they refered me to gibson who has a whole "kit" for my truck that they want to sell me. has anyone had any experience with gibson mufflers or even with flowmaster on a v6???? which do i go with??

Thanks adam

by the way borla does not make mufflers for a v6

Adam,
Yesterday I had a Dynomax system put on and it was incredibly LOUD inside the cab. So loud that at 35 mph, you could not have a conversation. This was their turbo series. Today, the shop put a Magnflow system on and it is great. Makes the ol' six banger sound a little mean. And it is reasonably quiet inside the truck. The Magnflow also has a lifetime warranty.

Adam,

I went with a Gibson stainless single side. Got it from Speedtweaks during the group buy for $365 shipped. It sounds great. A little louder than stock at idle. There is a little rumble in the cabin as I go through the gears but at cruising its just a humm. When I called Flowmaster and spoke to the tech, he said you had to be careful with the V6 and to stick with the 50 series at least. Flowmaster doesn't make a Catback system for the V6, but Gibson does. I heard the gibson duals may present a clearence problem with the spare tire. Gibson's single side is suppose to be their best power producing system. I think bottom line is sound. Pretty much all companies are about the same in performance. In my opinion, the gibson makes the V6 sound like a v8. Sorry, I can't speak for the flowmasters.
