Message: I doubt it , I'm getting about 19mpg on the hwy out of my '99 CC 318 2wd and I'm pretty happy with that -its lowered 3/4" , has a tonneou , headers no cat & 3" exhaust , M1 , MP PCM , 3.55's - it usually got around 15-16mpg when it was stock.

Message: Not really ease for those that don`t have the knowhow. If you have the computer, set it on the instante consumption and study the relation of the numbers you see, wich is the number of miles you`d be getting for that exact moment, with the movement of your foot. When you get good at this, you can decide how many miles you want to go with 1 galon. Normally, i drive to get aroud 18 for average, but from time to time i try to go for a maximum stretch possible (without stoping the traffic), and i have reached 24 mpg in rural areas. (between 40 and 50 mph). I was never able to get less than 14.5 mpg per tank/ average. Some trucks won`t do it, i know. Mine is a 2WD, 3.92 LSD, 4.7 5sp, FIPK2, Fastman 68 mm TB, HO intake and cams, Gibson headers and single 3 in, Jet chip s2, 180* Tstat, no fan clutch and a big rack to carry all my roofing busineess equipment. You can do it.

Message: On my 92 318 4x2 CC I have made a best of 21 mpg on the highway. A repeatable 20 mpg on the highway and an average highway/suburb driving at around 17mpg. I don't do any straight city driving so I can't make an estimate on that. My rear, to the best of my knowledge is 3.31. At 65mph I turn 2k. The engine/trans has 150k on them both and are essentially stock. These figures were done on a 300 mile drive, both ways at 65 to 70 mph.
I suppose with a fresher transmission and engine it would be possible, but I doubt that you would be able to do it due to the extra friction from the drivetrain...
3.55 gears won't help you on the highway.
It's possible, but I wouldn't bet on it.
