Message: Had a 98 5.2 now have a 00 QC 4.7 with full time AWD, the mileage is better with the 4.7 despite the AWD, I tow a LOT (own a boat dealership) and while the 5.2 may have had a little more right off the line, the 4.7 will out tow it overall without breaking a sweat, no doubt in part because of the new transmission with better gearing. I towed 5800Lbs fron San Diego to Seattle with my 5.2 and would feel very comfortable doing the same with the 4.7

Message: R u guys getting your mileage figures from your overhead computers? I gain 1 mpg with tail gate down giving me a total whopping... 14mpg, city or highway does not matter. Doing the math, no computer.

Message: So far with 4300 miles on the odometer I average around 16 in town and over 18 on the road. Not too bad, but then again it sucks considering I cant tow my trailer or anything else because the tow rating is so low. I have a 02 Tahoe and it gets better milage and can tow my 7000 trailer with ease. Dodge strikes again

Message: I would definitely not pump your tires to max. You will
get uneven tread wear real bad. I usually have mine
about 6-7 below max p.s.i. Quick note about tailgate... I
take back my statement about the better mileage with
tailgate down. I think I only had tailgate down for short
distances and low speed... maybe thats why I saw an
improvement in gas mileage.
You actually increase drag when you put your tailgate
down. I tested this over the weekend and I dropped 2
mpg w/ gate down.
I will definitely try K&N Air filter, I should be able to get
passed 22mpg with 3.55 gears if fastdak is telling the
truth. Seems like too big on an increase though for just
air filter.

Message: I get a steady 17 and my driving habits need improving to make the truck last like I need it to, but it's just so fun with all these red-lights and cars next to you. I think I'm half crazed or something, I haul ass everywhere I go and call everybody slow.
I have the 4.7 5 spd. CC and no complaints yet.
The mileage took a little getting used to, but it's worhit when you can beat the older stock Mustangs up to 60 and 100. I just can't wait to get the Trac-lok in cuz my right tire is fadin fast. he he he, that sucks
