Subject: Safari bull bar help!!! IP: Logged
Message: i got a 2002 dak , and i got a safari bull bar and therses 2 brackets for it and for each one there is 3 places for the bolts , but on my dak there are only 2 bolts there(using original bumper bracket bolts)? now the bracket kit is for 97-03 daks so im guess its a universal bracket and that iam suposed to only use the 2 bolts and the third bolt my be for an earlier dak??? any help or advise??

Message: I could be wrong, but i didnt think they made the safari Bull bars for Daks..only for Rams. That could be the problem, brackets for ram but mislabeled or sold to you as for a dak. I know westin makes just the plain safari bar for the dak, you could try to get a bracket from one of those.

Message: I have an '02 and there was only 2 bolts but there is a hole for the third bolt. I had the same size bolts on hand and made it 3 bolts per side. It's just called a Safari Bar for our trucks, there's no bull ;-)
Also I didn't drop the valence to install the bar, just loosened the bumper mounts one side at a time, slipped the brackets in and retightened, piece of cake.

Message: I installed a Safari bar on my 02 Dak 4X4. It
installed just like Johnny0 said his did.
I might add the only reason I did inslall the bar
was so there would be an area after the install
to also install tow hooks through the two cut outs
in the valence. I bought two black medium size
tow hooks from a farm store and fabbed a way to
install them to the Safari bar behind the valence.
I go camping twice a year in the Upper Mich area
and I wanted a way to put a snatch and strap on
the front of the truck in case I need pulled out
while taking in the sites in the back woods.
I never could figure out why Dodge never offered
two hooks for the Dakotas. The cut outs are
already there for them. Dodge Ram has them.
