Subject: 98 V6 lost idle IP: Logged
Message: I've got a 98 V6 with about 85K on it, haven't had a single fluctuation in the idle since day one (I bought it new). Then today, drove about 6 miles on the freeway and about 2 through the city, stopped. Got back in after about an hour, turned the engine on and started to back up, and when I let off the gas, it died. Did this several times, finally, I kept the gas on for about a minute, then had no problem. Drove it for another 8 or 9 miles, stopped, restarted, idle seemed okay, not quite as sure of itself as usual. Any ideas?

Message: Did ya find that idle yet?
Look were you last put it!
Did you try simple things first, like resetting the PCM? Fuel filter?

Message: What is the PCM and how is it reset?
It seems to be working fine again, at least for last night and this morning.

Message: pcm is powertrain control module, engine computer. If you disconect the battery for a few minutes it will reset values, they will re learn as you run engine or drive.sometimes that helps but if theres a problem, theres a problem. You should have a dtc, fault code maybe map senser or iac fault.
