Subject: RE: engine reving IP: Logged
Message: I am 18, in college and have some money saved. my 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad cab (5.6? V8) with 140,000mi on it is reving when in park it revs between 2-300 rpm. It has recently started to rev. around 2-400 rpm when in drive. What could be wrong with my truck, can I fix it with essentially no experience on cars (but i am going to be an engineer so i might as well start sometime). Thank you

Message: I have a 98 Dakota sport 4X v6 magnum and at highway speed, whenever I hit a nice bump the engine revs up 200 to 5oo RPM. I use to think it was the tranny and changing the tranny filter cured the problem for a year. I have had it hooked up to a computer recently and it sez that the air temp coming in the intake is 150 deg. Therefore the fuel bank(whatever that is) is messing up the flow of fuel to compensate for the temperature. I will only be truely convinced of this tommorow when I get a new air temp sensor.

Message: I cured that pesky in and out of lockup by changing my rear end gears to 4.10. You can give it a bit of gas and not shift out of lockup because the motor wont work as hard to get a bit more speed.
