Subject: Idling Issue IP: Logged
Message: I just got a 97 Dakota Sport 5.2. I had to bring it back almost immediately because of very rough running. Seems they found a blackened spark plug and they ended up doing a whole tuneup (plugs, wires, etc.) When they were done it ran great. Now the idle is fluctuating somewhat. At times it goes from 6-700 (good) to about 1100 or so when I put it in Park. Or it races somewhat in park when I first start it. At other times it runs fine. That 6-700 RPM (at a stop) seems to be the best when it's consistent. Should I keep an eye on it and accept it or bring it back to dealership for tweaking?
The engine has about 38000 miles on it.
Thanks.

Message: My stupid 99 with a 3.9 does the same thing when i put it in park.Races up to like 1000 then drops down to 500 or even less for a second and almost stalls sometimes, then levels off at normal idle speed. Dealer of course says nothing is wrong but its really anoying. IAC valve has been replced before but didn't help. I think its a computer problem.
