Subject: Double horsepower and Torque in one day IP: Logged
Message: By upgrading from a 4-banger Ranger to an 8 cylinder Dakota. HA! Bet you guys thought this was about some magic mod!
Seriously, it's unbelievable what a Difference a V8makes, just wanted to say how much I love this engine. I was trying to merge from a left entrance ramp the other day in my 04 4.7 Quad cab. OF course there was the obligatory azzhole in the late model Altima who came whizzin up at like 90. And rather than make my life easier for a spit second by moving over and letting me in, he decides he wants to fly up in my blind spot and continue at the same speed and force me to slow down.
Now in my old Ranger with the stickshift and 4 cylinder Id probably have had to either slow down or else wind it out to over 60 in 3rd to get in. But with this 4.7, all I did was give a quick stab of the gas. And next thing I know the situation's reversed, from him closing hard and fast in my side view mirror to me flying away at 90 while he's becoming another small speck of dirt in my rear view. Gotta love this truck. My Ranger was a nice compact pickup, this is a nice VEHICLE.

Message: so what your saying is that a v8 makes you an agressive driver? Good job! I like the engine too. It sounds great around 4500RPM

Message: NO, doesn't make me aggressive. The aggressiveness was always there. Just now I have more power to play at those times when other drivers want to do dumb sh!t like accelarating when I want to change lanes or
flying by at 90 in the lane Im tryin to merge into. In my Ranger at times Id get pushed around, that just doesn't happen anymore.

Message: I agree, love the torque of a good American V8. Everytime some buttwipe tries to cut you off, just gas it and change lanes anyway. It's usually some soccer mom in a SUV who wants to get to the merge spot first, just so she can be in front when she slows down.

Message: Congrats, Eddy! I made the same switch a few months ago, though mine is a CC not QC. Last Saturday I did the 935mi dash from the FL Panhandle to Chicago. My 4.7 held the truck right at cruising speed, even over the hills of KY and TN. For a while I was playing leapfrog with some fool in an F150 that kept bogging down on the hill climbs.
