Message: It was a B&M mega shifter, I have one in my 81 chevy stepside. Its a ratchet shifter and you do slam it forward to shift. You put it in drive and ratchet it back twice when you want to race so all you have to do is bump it forward to shift. And no you cant make it go into reverse or park because of the lockout.

Message: Not really, the Park and Reverse are locked out so you do-not accidently go into either with a full throttle situation. There is a manually over-ride on the shifter to allow you to do so when you want to, but it is usually engages so you wont detenate the drivetrain.
