I would have to say the first Charger pictured in this movie has a 392 c.i. Hemi due to its distributor being located in the rear/center of the intake valley, rather than protruding from the front cover like the 426.Anyway it doesn't matter even with the special effects of Hollywood I know that car with either of those engines and all the right tweeks could pull off that stunt less the "help."Let's face it riceburners you all needed someone to start your little "culture" and if it were not for the AMERICAN muscle cars starting it all you would'nt have $#!@!.Ever see American Graffiti?

Alright people! FIRST of all, there is NO WAY a stock Viper could beat that Supra in The Fast And The Furious. I talk to the people that had put EVERYTHING on that car everyday! It has a good 700hp on that car, a 0-60 time around 3.5 seconds,a 1/4 time of Low 10's and high 11's, and a top speed of 180+. And your telling me that a Viper could beat THAT? Let alone a stock MUSCLE CAR? You gotta be jokin!!! And I gotta agree with you guys, that a 426 Hemi Charger with a blower and 750rwhp, would probably knock out that Supra on the track. But I talked to the person who owns that Charger, and it runs 9.549 (9.0 my ass Vin Diesel) and THAT is impressive...BUT, thats on track tires. On street tires, it ran 11.643. The SUPRA on street tires ran 12.564.And thats ALL w/o the use of NOS! I can take $2,000.00 and have a Supra is the 11's on drag radials with a good launch. YOU GOTTA PUT MORE THAN $3,000.00 in a Charger or Chevelle to get it running 11's! PLUS, the Supra had ALL BOLT ON PARTS AND NO INTERNAL ENGINE PARTS! The Charger, HAD HEAD WORK, REAR END WORK, AND A BLOWER THAT COST ABOUT $10,000.00!!! But the Supra can still keep up? YES! If you want proof that a Supra can RUN 9's, with a PUT TOGETHER KIT...go to www.SupraStore.com and go to the horspower kit section and to the Stage 5 and 6 800 and 850 HORSPOWER KIT SECTION!!!

Wow! where can you get parts that cheap for a Supra. One of my friends dumped over $3,000 on a intercooler , exhaust , and B.O.V. and was only in the mid-12's ,His was a '96 twin-turbo with a 6-speed , it was great car but parts were too expensive. He ended up putting about $15,000 in it to get into the hi 10's before deciding that putting that much into a $30,000 used car was not the best way to go fast.

For $2,000, there is a kit that consists of a Downpipe, A GReddy Pro-Fec B Boost Controller, APEX'i N1 Exhaust, GReddy BCC (Boost Cut Controller) and Boost Gauge, will set you back less than $2,000! (About $2,000 after installation)This will raise your Supra to about 460 Crank Horspower! COULD IT BE ANY SIMPLER? Go To: http://www.suprastore.com/450hppackage.html
to see what I mean.

I know, The Rx-7 was driven by Vin Diesal, and it had a GReddy TD0-4 Single Turbo Upgrade, And thats about $10,000 right there, very true. The thing I dont like about Rx-7's is that they have Rotary engines, and no pistons. It takes SO MUCH WORK AND MONEY to put big rotars in Rx-7's, when you can get JE Forged Pistons for a Supra for under $2,000. Supras are a little more expensive when u buy them, but after u put money into both of them to get the same performance, the Rx-7 evens out. A Supra and an Rx-7 are pretty even when stock, both having 0-60 times of about 5.2 seconds, but the Supra beats the Rx-7 in quarter mile, because I had a friend that ran 13.45 with a Supra and then ran his Rx-7 and it ran 13.86.
So plain and simple, dont get a Civic, GET A SUPRA!

Bongo - there are many styling differences between a Challenger and a Charger but one of the biggest differences is the Charger is a heavier "B" body intermediate size while the Challenger is a shorter "E" body. Check out the length of the trunks. They also pulled a fast one in the end of vanishing point - if you look closely, the car they pile into the bulldozers in the end is a Camarro ! Check out the belt line, the body side crease that runs over the rear wheel well in a Challenger, on the car they wreck this crease is interupted by the rear wheel well.

The reason that Charger didn't have slicks is because that movie is the fakest piece of crap, most inaccurate, stupidest movie ever produced. The technical director/consultant couldn't have been much older than about 14 yrs old and he obviously had never driven a car much less raced one (or even seen a race for that matter).

Don't get me started on how much bullsh!t there was in that movie. I will give you this much....

The only realistic scene in that whole movie was when that one guy at the four-car street race (what the hell??) heard a siren in the distance and then everybody hauled a$$ out of there...... That's as close to reality as the movie ever got. The end.

Hey what was up with the floor pan in the honda? The bolts seemed to spontanesously explode and the floorpan dropped out? Anyways, Supra's are quick cars but i think a Viper could have taken that car. I have driven many souped up Supra's and they aren't as fast as Lingenfelter vette's for example.

OK guys Mopar 101

Note the spark plugs in the valve covers which make it a Hemi BUT the spark plug wires lead to the BACK of the motor which means 392 Hemi. The 392 was bad in its day and its still a Hemi but its no quite as refined as the 426 Hemi which has the distributer in the front just like a Mopar big block

hello guys first of all jon that was not a honda that the floor pan fel out of that was a eclipse.maybe you should watch the movie again. and i also agree that the movie was really a bunch of fake and untrue things but it was still a good movie in my opinion. did any won notice at the beginning of the movie when the under cover cop is testing his car that when he spins the reverse lights are on? and he also tells harry that his car topped out at like 130 or 140 mph and it had all that stuff done to it. a friend of mine had a eclipse that was the same body style and it was all stock and it topped out a t 130 so they really should try something diffrent. and also when brian the under cover cop pulls into the city to meet for the street race has anyone noyiced the hose looking thing that is practicly dragging on the ground near the right front wheel waht is that?
well just a few things fron me. oh and another thing they said that eclipse was an 80k car how do they figure that? brand new we will say tha car cost 30 then the 10k in upgrades that van diesel says it had thats fourty and well say 20k for the stickers and the paint and body kit whats that ad up to? i know it had stereo stuff also but get reall. and also do they ever think that they could go a bit faster if they would lose some of the stuff thats not really needed like the stereo stuff? drag cars are always lacking just a few things like that from what ive seen. just look at the charger in the movieone seat no stereo stuff either. kurt

Uhhhh...people...remember, there's no substitute for cubic inches. It doesn't matter what mods they are...put the same type of mods on a bigger engine and you make more power.

As for the fast N/A engines (and really well built Mopars): http://www.magnumforce.com (Ron Jenkins...old "Home Boy" from Campbell, CA). I remember him and one other person building a Pro-Street Plymouth Fury...it ran 11's without Nitrous or Supercharging. (That was back in the late 80's on the old cruising strip - ElCamino Real/Santa Clara - Races at Bailey Road.)

OK Paul----Small footnote about RX-7 vs your supra......
1.Supra is more of a "muscle" car than a sports car, so yes it can go a little bit faster going staight, but when you hit that first corner your extra 800lbs(2800vs3600) is going to put you in the wall.
2. You don't get bigger rotors...you port it and improve the turbos etc...
3. It has no pistons because it rotates and has a very high red line of about 9000 stock and about 11000 for the racers.
4. The engines are so reliable/safe/balanced at high rpms that they been used in aircraft for a very long time.....
Sorry to nitpick but I love my Dakota and really miss my Rx-7's...peace.
