It's all pink, they won't know the difference. I bought my 00 Dak with 60K on it and serviced the trans with AFT3 because that's what the manual called for. Little did I know at the time that DC changed the trans to require ATF+4, (nothing like refering the the owners manual for the fluid specs. The tranny ran fine with the ATF3 and I changed over to Amsoil ATF 15K later, no harm done as I have 113K on it and it's running strong.

I think Dodge is requiring ATF+4 for 2 reasons-

1- You have to buy it from DODGE $7.00/quart cha ching
2- It's better fluid then AFT3 and will make thier trannys last longer.

Keep in mind that while it may start out pink, ATF+4 will turn brown over time. This doesn't indicate bad fluid, it's just a normal change after it gets hot a few times. Sooo, don't let them claim the fluid is burnt and slide out of a warranty repair that way. As for adding +3, what else could you do? That was the best you could do, and I agree it's more about money for DC than wear issues. Redline and Royal Purple also make excellent oils that exceed DC's requirements.
