i also believe i am having problems with shot muffler bearings. there was red dust around the muffler so i knew it was not from the breaks and the wiper refills were ok and the air pressure of the tooney cover was nominal and of course, i checked the air hose pressure to the adjustable mirrors and that was within specs. i took off the rear three mufflers and inspected the bearings and sure enough, bearings had been shot. look for small holes on each roller bearing and directly opposite from this small hole will be a large hole. this is a clear indication of the bearing being shot with the entry wound and the large exit hole clearly showing the exit wound. the red dust of course was dried blood from the bearings that had been shot. i am glad i have comprehensive coverage on my insurance which covers shot bearings.

PS thanks for the chuckles on the above mentioned website. i look forward to receiving the parts i ordered from this webpage. be sure to check out the discussion page.

Hey, muffler bearings, blinker fluid and fuel injected lug nuts are only funning the first time you hear it. If you know that little about cars and trucks you should consider buying and reading some automotive tech manuals soon. If you do not do it someone is going to see you comeing and hit you hard with repairs that you do not need like muffler bearings.

I thought when the muffler bearings are shot
that it only made practical sense to replace
the doofalator valve also? IMHO. -Al

If your muffler bearings are worn, you definatly want to get them fixed before they are shot! If they are shot out going down the road, oh man... people can SUE for that! I know someone who got killed by a shot muffler bearing... right through the head. BAM! Dead.

It's not funny guys! Shot muffler bearings are a serious problem, comprising 14% of all roadside deaths worldwide!

I recommend getting the new, magno-bearings. These little babies don't really have bearings, but twin interlocking magnetic seals that are like-charged to repeal each other. Zero friction! No way you can shoot a bearing out with these...

And yes, DEFINATLY replace doofalator valve, because it regulates A/C pressure into the cooling baffle of the bearings! Overheated bearings can cause them to seize, and when that happens, you usually end up with a cracked Dohrmest Casing, and those are expensive!

On a serious note, The "Muffler Bearing" noise being described, sounds like a bad cat. My cat sounded the same at about 20K miles and had it replaced under warranty.

Face it, too many people have no idea what anything is in a vehicle. Why do you think so many BS products are on the market? There are actually peoiple stupid enough to buy them.

Dont forget, when changing the muffler bearings, you should also replace the felopian tubes. Might as well, while you have her torn apart.

My grampa told me that when doing a muffler bearing job, make sure you inspect the afadapher-valve, and make sure to grease the brake-bleed screw really good...gotta loosen it a little first, otherwise the grease will just get all over the hoopter-flipper grommet.

Also, if your front axles slip at all, it's a good idea to remove the wheels, and bang on them reallllly hard with a hammer to score them up...that way they stick to the wheel better.

Everyone knows the reason Dodge muffler bearings wear out prematurely is because, like their steering and suspension components, they're too damned cheap to put grease fittings in them.
