Does anyone on this board other than me also own a Dodge Motorsports Edition Dakota? I just recently purchased a Flame Red 2001 Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition RC Dakota, its got the Heavy Duty suspension, 3.92 rear gear,5 speed stick, and 4.7L V8! This baby hauls! Anyone know what these get through the quarter mile? Also what are some simple mods I can do to improve its performance? I tried to get a K&N but the local parts guy said they arent avalible yet??? I figured they were also what kind of luck you guys having with these? Thanks in Advance!

Well I havent got any pictures at present but I got a digital cam so Im gonna take some here soon and I'll send you some. Its got 6 lug, 16 inch Glossy Black wheels, with Yellow Lettered Good Year Tires! It look bad arse. This truck and the two cars in this series, are commemerating Dodges return to racing, and today I got my Race Bag (Cooler), Collectible Die Cast Model Race Car Limited edition Intrepid R/T, a drink holder, a can cooler, binoculars, a hat, a pin, a DODGE windshield sticker, a small rear window sticker, and a stop watch all with Dodge Motorsports wrote on them! Its pretty cool. This stuff is what you get for buying the truck its pretty nice! But soon as I get some time Im gonna clean her up realy good and take pics for yall! Later!

I thought it was a pretty good deal but went with the R/T instead. It can be put on any Sport Dakota regardless of motor/transmission choice and costs about $600. Most of that cost is in the fact it includes the wheel and tire package, they just paint the wheels black. It is only available in 3 colors, red, silver, and black. I don't think they'll end up selling many of them and they are sure to be rarer then the R/T's, especially with the 4.7 5-speed combo you got. I pitty the day I see a 4 banger version.

Oh yeh, it has a chrome grill rather then the painted grill the Sport comes with. You also have to order the fog lights and light group to get the motorsports package so that will drive up the cost a little more if you didn't what those options.

I purchased a 2001 Motorsports Dakota in Sept.'01. My '92 5.2 Dak was totaled in a wreck, so I went shopping on the net for an R/T. Couldn't find one (between seasons I guess) but did find this sweet black 4.7 5-speed w/3.92 posi. reg. cab. Built for speed: manual windows and door locks! I haven't clocked it yet, but its just as strong as my old '92 and the 2003 R/T I drove yesterday. The sticker price was $19,210. I get compliments and head turns every single day. Its been lowered 3", which really helped the looks and handling. I've only seen 3 others besides mine, 2 Intrepids and no Neons. A lot of Mopar fans have never heard of these vehicles. Oh, yeah: it gets 18-19 mpg all the time!

This is a picture of my 01 Motorsport Dak taken a while back. Before the MBRP Duals were added as well as the ARE tonneou. I have to get my windows tinted this week sometime. Perhaps I will post a new pic if anyones interested with the "mods" to it.

Diamler-Chrysler just informed me that 1028 Dodge Motorsports Dakotas were produced in 2001. Someone with an Intrepid said there were 1026 of those. I guess this makes them some of the rarest Mopars, at least in recent years. Goodyear has already quit making the yellow-letter Eagle#1's. If you own a Motorsports, you might consider running to your local dealer and getting a spare set of door decals before they're all gone.

After running the vin number at the dealer, they found that the numbers do not reflect that it's anything special. The back one is a 01 CC 4.7 auto with the R/T package except the springs and 16" rims.

The 3 vehicles in the series could have been ordered by any Dodge dealer beginning in April 2001. They were designated as a 2001 1/2 model. A maximum of 5000 each of Dakota, Intrepid and Neon COULD have been built, but since they were all ordered vehicles, only 1028 Dakotas were made. Sure,it is a trim package, but they were limited just like Diamler-Chrysler intended. "Dodge Motorsports Limited Edition" was their designation.

To help you on your 1/4 mile question. I have a 2000 4.7 5 speed 3.92. My best time is 14.98 @ 89mph. I have a Flowmaster, a 360 Intake, and had the fan removed, and a Hurst shifter. Hope this gives you a starting point. I have a G-Tech, and that is the only numbers I have when it was all stock. 15.30 @90mph.

Well, DMSDAK, I'm the guilty one! There is precious little info on the Motorsports Edition, so I just put my $.02 worth in. It has been neat to see the photos pop up..thanks, guys. We're in a very small minority in the Dak World.

Hey, fastdak. I haven't checked my email since before Thanksgiving. I still want answers to the same questions as you, but that big first one, the production number, was one I just had to find out. I went to Dodge.com, put in "Dodge Motorsports Dakota Limited Edition" in the "Ask" box in the upper right home page. When the next page comes up, scroll down to the bottom to "contact us". On the next page, click on email at the "Customer Assistance" box. I got a response in about 3 days. "According to our records, 1028 were produced," was their reply. Come back to this page and tell us what you discovered. I knew Dodge would make a maximum of 5000 in 2001, and had a feeling they never reached that goal. The actual low number was a shock. But I really appreciate my truck more now. No "trailer queen" here..just turned 36K miles!

My local Goodyear dealer did a search for me today, locally and nationally, and all of the inventory of 255/65/16 Eagle #1's are gone. I plan to store my factory wheel/tire combo for shows and resale, and use R/T or Centerlines for daily driving.

NASCAR.com Store has some Dodge Motorsports clothing and other items for sale. Type in "Dodge Motorsports" in the search box, and the "related items" area on the right corner after it pulls up. Of course, for those of us with the 2001 trucks, the "roman italic" lettering style like on our door decals has long since been replaced with a "block" style that D-C seems to have settled on. Some Wal-Marts may have some caps left with the old style, if old inventory.

just ordered my spare set of door decals $69.70 each. from the stealership. got a cool dodge t-shirt at a nascar store here in wi. got a big ram on the front and the motorsport logo. on the back it says grab life by the horns.
