Subject: High mileage tips/suggestions IP: Logged
Message: Well, my financing fell through for my planned '04 Dak purchase, so it looks like I'll riding my '97 V8 CC 4x4 till the bitter end.
It's at nearly 143K, already did the ball joints and other front end fun. Completely stock, except for a K&N air filter, and BFG 31.5's.
Any suggestions for a long, healthy life? I do injector service 2x/year and 3k oil changes already. Running good now, but I may be in it for 2-3 years more, for financial reasons. We do a lot of very long driving trips - we're planning a trip to BC (from Colorado) this spring.

Message: Get all the stank nasty fluids flushed and replaced. I have a 00 4.7 Dak with 112K and flushed and/or replaced all the fluids last summer, the oil and ATF were in OK condition (because they were regularly serviced), but the power steering fluid, rear end gear lube, and brake fluid looked dark, bad.
They weren't hard to flush out, just took some time doing 6 different fluids, engine oil, ATF, P/S fluid, brake fluid, gear lube and antifreeze. Easier to replace fluids than hard parts.
