I'm trying to find some ideas for the relocator, but some of the links in the archives are dead, like: http://www.chimptopia.com/pimptopia/grille3.html. Has it been moved? Does anyone know of another that is still active? Thanks.

What year of Dakota are you wanting to relocate the release ? I have a 99 that I made 1/8" stainless mesh grill inserts for, for the safety release on mine I used 3/32" stainless aircraft cable, made a length approx. 16" long with a loop on both ends, drilled a hole in the factory release and attached the cable through the hole. It hangs down just to the top of the openings in the bumper, where you can pull the lower loop to release the hood, I did the modification when the truck was new and have never had any problems.

I just shaved my second hood latch and put hood pins in. Just pull the pins and hit the release inside.
looks good with the hood pins too.
