Subject: Got door edge guards IP: Logged
Message: I cant believe it. All I did was open my door a little in my apartment parking lot, then something dropped on the ground and I bent to pick it up. And at that exact moment a gust of wind blew my door open all the way and it tapped the car next to it.
I carefully inspected the other vehicle, as I would have felt like total sh!t if my negligence gave someone else's baby a ding. Luckily I didnt mess up the other person's ride, but I was not so lucky myself. IT wasn't even that hard of a tap, but it caused a sliver of paint the size of maybe a small bread crumb to flake off the edge of the door right above where it curves in toward the body. I couldn't believe how vulnerable the paint was and how easy such a light tap made some flake off. And I thought I had read some BS somwhere that some super ingenious new paint process was supposed to make the paint on the last couple model years of GenIIIs more durable. I guess that article was just about good enough to wipe my ass with.
Anyway I touched up the nick as best I could, and it's almost impossible to see if you dont get your eyeball right next to it. Plus just on the off chance that I or any of my passengers ever make a bone headed move with one of my doors against a wall or another vehicle again I put black door edge guards on to protect the edges. They blend OK with the door seems and at the same time coordinate OK with the ventshades and the black tonneau cover. I heard they can leave little scratches, but I figure I can fix those easier on the off chance that I ever decide to take them back off than I can fix actual chips and nicks.
I can tell right now Im gonna go insane trying to keep this vehicle looking good for any length of time.

Message: I've got the factory body molding, a $75 upgrade. I don't know that they offer 100% of the same protection as a door edge guard but they seem to do decent. I didn't particularily like their appearance at first but now that I'm used to it don't mind it at all.
