Subject: QuadCab front end IP: Logged
Message: Anyone know if there is a particular reason that the Quad Cab Front Ends tend to be lower than other Dakota front ends?
Just curious if there was a reason (design, suspension, etc).
Thanks!

Message: BMAN, I'm assuming you have a 2WD not a 4WD, as do I. And I'm guessing that the front end susp on the 4WD has to be beefier than a 2WD for obvious reasons. The rear prob has the same springs and suspension. My 2WD QC is lower in front and noticed that the 4WD are more level. Just a logical hunch..then again, I could be way off. Anyone else have a more definitive answer??

Message: I have a 4x4 2001 SLT. Maybe it's just an illusion but to me, the front end seems a little lower than a club cab or reg cab 4x4 dak.

Message: Bman, I have an 02 QC 4x4 and thought the same thing last year. I also thought it was just my imagination,,, until I broke out the tape measure. It was lower, so I cranked up the t-bars about 1.5 inches. Looks fine now.

Message: So Mick
With the latest news about Ball Joints in the news, the warrenty actually covered replacement of the joints? If so I'm going in to have them looked at.
Let me know. Thanks

Message: Yes, warrentty relaced ball joints. I complained about popping in front end and it could be felt in steering wheel.
Now I have a problem with the turn signals/radio
turning off. Move the steering wheel up/down and
they come back on. Connection problem? Seems to do
this when truck is very cold. My truck is 2001,2wd,auto,quad.

Message: Mick
Good luck with your truck. Right now my 2002 Dodge Dakota has 28,000 miles and I've had no problems with my truck. It's been great. In fact I Love my truck.
I am going in on the recall about the wiring problem down along the steering column and clutch. Apparently they say the clutch is rubbing on a wiring housing that is causing shorts. Probably not what your experiencing since your's in an automatic.
Take Care and Happy Holidays to you.

Message: I also love my quad cab, it's been the perfect truck for us for the past 3 years. 35k miles.
I've just waited to get all the work done at last
service (my only visit) visit to the dealer.
I'll take it back for the "clockspring" in steering wheel.
By the way, co-worker with a 2003 Ford superduty
F250 diesel said that Ford is having problem with
ball joints being too tight! They are being replace with "greaseable" ball joints. He got that info from a "Ford diesel forum".
So Dodge is not the only ones with problems,,,,
Happy holidays to all,,,,,,,,
