Message:
I have an 03 QC with 4.7, and want to know if this is supposed to have an under hood mat? The underneath of my hood is bare, no insulated mat.

Thanks,
Ken

My 2003 Sport Plus CC doesn't have one. My 1997 SLT did. It had a ram's head logo embossed on it. Probably a cost saving measure.

Thanks AJA. I was wondering, as I have seen pictures of the RAM hood mat and liked it.

They do look good. You may be able to order one from the dealer. It really does finish off the engine compartment nicely. Don't forget to get the clips and copy down any info from stickers that'll be covered.

On the 02 models, the Sport didn't have the hood insulation, while the SLT did. For the 03 and 04's though, I don't know.

My 01, Quad cab SLT has it!

And it has the cutouts for the info stickers already on it, supposed to cut down on engine noise in the cab, an SLT feature.

If the '02 SLT was supposed to have the under-hood insulation then I got shorted. Sometimes I wish I had the padding to quiet it down a little. But then again, it's cool to hear the valve train whine when running up the RPMs...

Thanks all who responded. I was curious as I had seen the mat in pictures, but didn't see one on my truck. I also like hearing the growl, especially when I "light em up". I don't know who gets more excited when I do, me or my seven year old; I'm the coolest dad with the coolest truck to him....

Dodge just plain CHEAPING OUT!

There are a lot of things that Dodge has done to short the customer, at least on the 2003 model yeaer. Here are a few items, not supplied, from former model years.

1...Hood Mat
2...Middle Consol interior light
3...Upper windsheild trim
4...Consol CD and TAPE tray (sits inside consol)
5...Consol round insert mat and insert cup
6...Graphics on side of truck...

These are a few things missing from my 2003 R/T. They would be missing from all 2003 models as well.

It makes you truly wonder, if this 'little' things were not supplied, what of the actual mechanics? What stretching out of the quality control for those parts that make up your actual vehicle....
