Subject: Nasty brake fluid IP: Logged
Message: The brakes on my '02 QC are spongy, so I was thinking of bleeding them to see if there was any air in the lines. I took a look at the master cylinder reservoir and the fluid inside is really dark. I just hope the guy I bought it from wasn't an idiot and put something else in there. I have never seen the fluid in the reservoir get dirty. He did mention that he had some warranty work done on the brakes, I wonder if the dealership hosed it up? I am trying to decide if I should flush the brake system before I take it to the dealer to have them check it out since it is still under warranty.
Any ideas?

Message: When moisture and brake fluid mix, they tend to form a dark fluid, like you describe. Its corrosive too. Its time to bleed the system and replace it with fresh stuff, for safetys sake.
