hmmm, I was wondering about that...talked to someone last week that had the same problem. The check engine light came on last night before I got gas. I filled the tank and made sure it was as tight as possible, clicked at least 5 times.
How long should it take the code to clear itself if the problem has been corrected?

possible to have developed a leak in the hoses or canister connection on the gas vapor system. Unlikely tho, probably your gas cap.

Mine does it every now and then,,,especially when cold. It usually goes away on it's own in a couple days.
Guess the easist cure would be to buy a new gas cap.

yes, buy a new gas cap and reset the computer.
Disconnect the positive side on the battery and let it sit for like 1 min. Then reconnect.

I`ve had this happen three times. The first time, thanks to this site, I fixed it myself. Split hose on charcoal cannister.(on frame rail under driver`s door)
Second time(also got code 0456) dealer said they found a loose hose.
Third time I took it to a different dealer. They said they couldn`t find anything and even did smoke test. They just reset it. I remembered someone posted that they only tighten their gas cap to one click and that solved their problem. Thats what I`ve been doing since and it hasn`t come back so maybe, who knows.

Got the code again about two weeks ago. One click wasn`t the answer I guess. Brought it back to original dealer. They said they found a cracked hose, ya ok. I think they just reset it, time will tell.
