Subject: fog lights revisited IP: Logged
Message: I have a '95 dakota that has no fog lights. I'm looking at installing a set. The 95 has the square headlights so I'm looking at square fog lights. The bumper is pre-cut but I need to cut the plastic runner below the bumper. I have a single mounting point pre-cut in the bumper. So far I have only found the Blazer lights by Rally Manufacturing. Can anyone point me to a pair of single post square fog lights that are 55W+ besides these Blazers. The speciality shops around here are mostly open mon - fri from 8a-5pm and I am unable to get off work to go visit and see their catalogs. I'm looking at either ordering online or purchasing from the local retailers (pep boys, autozone, advance, napa, wal-mart, etc).
Also, anyone have any suggestions of a mounting point for the toggle switch? The truck manual says it is on the instrument panel left of the steering colum. I'm not seeing any identifable spot for placing the switch.

Message: If you check out any of the stores that you spoke of you should be able to find a huge selection of lights.
I have looked at a few offered at walmart inpaticular.
The down side to their products is that most of them run the power directly throught the switch.
With 55 watts you do not want to do that.
Be sure to find a set that comes with a relay.
It will say on the box if it does and the instructions will describe how to install it.
If in doubt ask for help or just open the box and look at the provided wireing harness.
If it is very simple and only runs to the switch skip it and move on to the next product.
I would also suggest that you pull the power for your lights from a keyed on power source. that way you do not leave them on when you shut the truck off. (been there done that)
As for the switch, wait until you have the kit in hand and find a spot to mount it. Make sure there is room behind the dash for the wires to run. Most will have a bezzel of some kind to cover the hole. I like to use an exacto knife and take several passes to cut through. If you are brave grab a dremmel and a cut off blade. When in doubt ask for help. Most of the guys (or gals) at an automotive store will be able to help you select the best setup and help give you hints for an easy install.
good luck.
