 Subject: Seat belt keeps strangling me

Just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this
when I put on my driverside seat belt it slowly keeps getting tighter and tighter and I have to keep unbuckling and readjusting it.

My passenger seatbelt does that, I dunno why. I never sit there so I've never noticed. I also get the complaint from every girl who rides in my truck, "The seatbelt is trying to cut my boob off."

I thought seatbelts should have two modes, "free" and "ratchet". It should almost always be in "free" mode where you can lean forward and the belt will let you. It should only go into "ratchet" mode when it senses deceleration (like in an accident). It sounds like yours is stuck in "ratchet" mode. It might be as easy as whacking the area where the seatbelt retracts (where you hear the ratcheting type noise) or it could be more "serious" (i.e., cost money to fix, like replace the ratchet mechanism). The good news is in either case, your belts will do what they are designed to do, which is keep you from becoming one with your dash in an accident.
Besides, you could always use it as an excuse to "help" your girl with her belt (Here, let me help you adjust that boo.., I mean belt...).

My 02 belts are the same way. I found a little
close pin type clip in some sale catalog a long
time ago that allows you to adjust your belt so
there is a little slack in the belt over your
chest. Makes for much better long drives.
Sorry, but I don't remember what catalog I got
them from but they are sold by someone.
Just for trial, use a close pin.. You'll see
what I mean.

There's a problem with the belt lock. Like Doug said, there's a mechanism that locks the extender when you get significant deceleration. Sounds like yours is engaged all the time.
Get one of those large black paper clip holders that have the butterfly handles - don't know the exact nomenclature. After you put the belt on then clip that to belt just before it enter the hoop over your shoulder. That will allow it to function properly and not retract too far. And it's only about $1.
