Subject: ABS Brakes pulsing IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 QC with the rear ABS. When I slam on the brakes the rears will lock up and you can feel the ABS switching (though slowly) the rear brakes. The trouble is that when the ABS releases the rear pressure it also reduces the pressure to the front brakes and the truck will roll forward with very reduced ( if not any ) brake pressure. The ABS will then release and the pressure will then come back to the front brakes. I can imagine a situation when you would be able to stop in time untill the ABS pulses the rear brakes and you then roll forward into the vechicle in front. This type of ABS appears to use a valve that opens and closes the pressure to the rear brakes. But it can't work as fast as the true ABS that works in the hundreds of pounds pressure. Has anyone else seen this situation?
