Subject: Heat in my 1987 3.9 V6 does not work!
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 1987 Dodge Dakota, 3.9 V6. It has 61,000 original miles. The heat does not work at all. It blows cold. I recently changed the thermostat, still blows cold. I was told it could possibly be the heater valve, Where would I locate the heater valve. Or does anyone else have any other opinions to what the problem might be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

The valve would be on the drivers side between the fenderwell and the valve cover close to the power brake booster. There are 2 small hoses that run to the heater core. If you took them off to change the thremo you could have them reversed. The other case is that you are low on water or the thermo is in upside down.

on the driver side under the hood is two hoses that run to the firewall.after the truck is up to temp with heater on full[high]grab the hoses to see if both are at the same or close to same temps if not check the valve in one of the two hoses[no valve]reverse the two hoses where they connect at the firewall.this will help flush the heater core if it has blockage.

its probaly the heater core is plugged its fairly common in these trucks.

also when you move the heater control on the dash can you hear the trap doors in the heater open/close.
