Message: i own a 2003 QC 4x4. I'm looking at trading my Goodyear Wrangler RTS P265 70 R16's in for an LT on/off road tire(700 miles). I'm looking for advice on tire size that is comparable to my factory tires. The 70 is an odd ball number and have tried to price tires to that # and they are rare and quite expensive.
I've also heard that if there is too much change in size that it may void vehicle warranty...or a computer chip may be needed for proper calibration . Any truth to this?
Why does Dodge put a P rated tire on a 4x4?

Message: I went with 31x10.5/15's on my 01CC for that very reason. I got 4 15x8's off a Durango from a bone yard and sold the wheels & tires that came with the truck. There are more plentiful and cheaper tires for 15" rims than for 16".
As for your warranty question, I was told by the service manager at my dealership that if you don't have your speedo recalibrated (they change the pinion ratio with a DRBIII scan tool), DC will void the warranty because a bigger diameter tire causes the speedo and the odometer to read lower than actual speed and total distance so if they cover you for 50,000km you may actually be travelling 60,000km. That's just an example using made up numbers but you get the idea. My dealer charged me $35.00 to do the change.
