I had a mishap recently where I didn't get the cap on all the way. The coolant began boiling, and the truck got hot. I wound up replacing the cap, just to be sure it wasn't a leaking cap instead. The gasket in it didn't look very good.
I replaced it with the cap they said was the right one at Advance Auto. It was an 18 psi. Since then, (bout a month's time), I have had to replace the water pump and the radiator. I think I now may have a leaking heater core. This makes me want to go back and get a lower psi cap.
