Subject: Proper way to lift truck on Jacks IP: Logged
Message: Hello to all...
Just recently purchased 4 6-ton jack stands, and one of the reason I bought four was to make my "rotating tires" life easier. I want to lift my Dakota onto the jacks and away I go.
I don't want any accidents, of course, so what is the best way to lift my truck onto these jack stands--front end first, one side first, one on each side, etc?
Thanks for the help,
David

Message: yes, do one side at a time and make sure you wheel chalk both tires on the opposite side. only rotate the tires on the left from front to back and the right side the same. dont go mixing the wheels at every corner. then you probably wont have to go have them balanced again. then again you might if you start feeling vibrations. anyway, hope this helps.

Message: I just have 2 jack stands. I put them under the rear axle and use the jack for the front. I rotate them as per manual. The rears come forward and you criss cross the fronts to the back(something like that, gong from memory).
Any reason I shouldn`t do it this way. Be kinda hard to criss cross by doing one side at a time wouldn`t it?

Message: I work in the Costco tireshop ,when we need to handjack for a 4 tire job,we jack the rear first then the front.
i.e. one jack under the rearend differential ,jack and install stands .Two jacks in the front and install stands. If you only have one jack then do the rear first and then alternately jack the front sides left then right /right then left doesn't matter as long as its stable..
Note make sure the stands and placed on hard/level floor ,having them start to sink in your yard would be disasterous.
