Subject: rear bearing bad?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have a 2wd 01 quad cab with 37K miles on it and I was changeing the back tire when I noticed that you could grab the rear hub and move it back and forth a little. I tried to measure the amount of play the axle had it in but it was very small. Is this normal or is something wore out?

My pinion bearing went at about 50K miles even with the recommended diff fluid changes. Raise both rear wheels off the ground and spin the tires at about 30MPH. If you hear a loud groaning coming from the rear end, you may be in trouble.
