Subject: 96 3.9 starting probs IP: Logged
Message: i was just reading another message that was posted about starting problems with a 97. my truck will only stay running at start if i keep my foot on the gas (after a minute, it runs fine), and as i understand, fuel injection shouldn't do that. i have 93,000 miles on it, and i thought maybe it needs a new fuel filter/pump/tank combo. is there another fuel filter along the frame somewhere? my truck isn't blowing white smoke out of the pipes either. any advice would be great!!!

How old is the battery? When my stock battery died a while back (left the dome light on) and I jumped started it, it wouldn't stay running unless I kept my foot on the gas. I had to do this for a couple minutes and it was fine. That was the only time though.
