I have a 03' 2x4 3.9L Quad Cab. I want to have a 505 wedge crate engine installed. Does anyone know what kind of work this will entail? Will it work at all? If it will, what else am I going to have to look at installing (ie. transmission, carberuator, whatever else under the hood) I am no mechanic, but I want to have an idea when I bring this to a shop, so they don't feed me some crap I don't need. Also, about how much will the labor cost do you think? Thanks for the help.

Back up and do it to a '93. Actually, any model from '95 back, but from '96 up it's much more difficult. They're much more integrated electronically. Carb? Forget it, unless you're planning on not having any of the computer-interfaced instruments/anti-lock/tranny functioning. Is this gonna be a street truck or a strip truck? Not saying your idea can't be done, but sheeeesh, you're talkin' about some bucks, even if you were a mechanic, and particularly if you're wanting to keep it otherwise as-is in functionality. A much more do-able deal would be to go with a stroker 408 and supercharge it. The power would be there, it'd be an easy engine swap, and the electronics are there and expandable enough to support everything as needed by these OBDII vehicles. Plus, you'd have all your stock creature comforts working as intended.
