Is there any info on a new model Dakota being made with the extended cab and doors. I know there is the quad cab but do not want the extra length, just something when my bride puts groceries behind the front seats she can open adoor rather than the regular door and pull the seat forward.
We are looking at new trucks and we are interested in the Dakota but my bride feels the F-150 or Tundra will better suit her needs. There is no immediate rush to make this purchse so if Dodge were to have one in the works it might be something we would be willing to wait for.
Any thoughts or ideas ??? Of course we are both liking the discounts on the Dakota so this might over ride the other two, but the question is still out there. The quad cab is not an option.

About your quad comment, the quad is not longer than the club cab. same length.
what you loose is 12" of bed space. 5 1/2 foot bed instead of 6 1/2.
I was looking for the same thing and ended up getting the quad cab.
I love it and would not get an extended now.
good luck on the new purchase.
05 or 06 may have a hemi...I would wait.

Go with the Tundra.
It will give you decades of reliable Toyota service and you won't have to change ball joints every time you gas up.

Tundra is a great truck, if you don't mind paying $8K more for the same exact features found in the Dakota. And the Tundra's interior is straight out of the Corolla parts bin...
Not that our Dakota interior is perfect, but I like it better than Toyotas...

ToyOMan is bang on. The Dakota is a pretty (feminine) truck but it's poorly designed and poorly built.
In other words, it's a piece of crap.
