Subject: moog ball joints IP: Logged
Message: Howdy, my ball joints are shot on my 2002 dakota reg. cab, 4.7. does anyone know for sure if the Moog part #K7242, upper and K7241,lower, is the right ones for my dakota. want to do better than stock so not even going to mess with the dearler. Any help would be greatly apresheated.

Message: Just replaced all four with the Moogs,You may have to re-drill the uppers with a 3/8, and get some grade eight bolts.You have the right numbers for a two wheel drive.Have FUN!!!!!!!!!

Message: thanks. it is a 2 wheel drive. did they make the bolt holes bigger on the 2002's. the bolts that came with it seem on the small side.

Message: Yeah, don't use the bolts that come with the ball joints, they looked pretty scarrrry to me. Drill out the ball joint and/or control arm bolt holes to match up with bigger bolts. RL used 3/8 bolts, I used 7/16 bolts. Be sure to get a new drill bit if your drilling into the cast iron of the ball joint, while your at the hardware store pick up a set of grade 8 bolts, 3/8 or 7/16 what ever floats your boat.

Message: that is something i have not heard about or checked out. My Dakota is a 2 wheel drive, both joints are rivited to the a-arms. will be doing the work myself.
