Subject: Detailing questions... IP: Logged
Message: Previous owners of my Dakota have splattered yellow and orange paint near the tailgate of the bed and have left one yellow spot on the hood. How can I remove this paint without damaging the finish?
Also, the truck has a fiberglass tonneau cover. Can I use caranuba wax on its surface?
Thanks for your help, as always...

Message: I'm not really sure about the paint splatters, but i would read your instructions for waxing your cover (I'm not being a wise ass either). I was bored last night and read through my instructions for my soft cover and it said not to use Armor All on it. Good thing I read them, cause I was considering it..
Hope this helps.

Message: What kind of paint is it? If it's latex stuff, like house paint. A product called Goof Off available at most big hardware stores, Lowes, HQ etc: will take it off and not hurt the clear coat. Mineral spirits may also work , Just test it in a inconspicuous area first to make sure it don't screw anything up. The last thing I can think of is to lightly wet sand it until it's gone and then polish the area with something like Dupont 1500S then rewax. Good Luck with it!!
