Subject: Westin Safair Bar - air flow???
IP: Logged

Message:
Does anyone see an issue with the way the Westin Safari bar blocks the airflow through the grill? If you mount a front license place and lights, it seems to completely cover the opening below the bumper. I like the look, but don't want things overheating from reduced airflow/heat from the lights. Isn't the oil and trans cooler mounted behind there?

I guess I'm mostly worried about the trans cooler. I believe its mounted towards the bottom, behind the radiator. That area receives air through the opening below the bumper, and this set-up completely covers that gap.

Pat,
I have on Westin push bar on my 01 Dak, I left the lic.plate in the stock position.NO problems with over heating at ALL. I live in the Mojave Desert near Palm Springs where it get hotter than hell. Sometimes the electric fan would kick in when I'm going up steep hills. But it would anyway. Just my 2 cents

I have the full brush gaurd by polar bear. I don't see how having a grille gaurd would restrict air from coming in to the engine. As a matter of fact my BUTT Dyno says it gives it about 12 HP.
